The Fleet Manager is responsible for the purchasing, cost control, maintenance, repairs, local/state compliance, utilization, and overall operational management of Glass America company vehicles across all states. The Fleet Manager will incorporate their organizational, analytical, and leadership skills to maintain a safe and reliable fleet.

Fleet Management

  • Manage fleet to assure the safe operation of all company vehicles to include preventative maintenance, repairs, local licensing, registration, and state inspections.

  • Negotiate pricing of new vehicle purchases and arrange for the vehicle to receive any conversions with the necessary equipment to be used by Glass America Technicians.

  • Build a network of providers across the country to ensure Glass America vehicles can be serviced, repaired or replaced based on the requests of Operations Management.

  • Process requests for the issuance of fuel cards to new employees or replacement of lost/damaged/stolen fuel cards.

Compliance and Safety

  • Implement and monitor safety procedures, including accident reporting and investigation protocols.

  • Coordinate with corporate compliance departments to provide necessary documentation to adhere to insurance guidelines after accidents involving Glass America vehicles.

  • Oversee driver safety training and awareness programs.

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure proper record keeping of vehicle registration, licensing, maintenance and repairs.

  • Develop a scalable maintenance plan for the safe and efficient use of fleet vehicles based upon manufacturer recommendations while minimizing downtime and disruption to Technicians in the field.

  • Establish a system to monitor vehicle mileage and keep track of vehicles nearing the end of their expectancy.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Confirm fleet budget expenditures are within budget while developing strategies to leverage bulk discounts for purchasing power and cost reduction.

  • Compile reports and data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency.

  • Generate comprehensive reporting on fleet performance, including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and driver metrics.

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve fleet performance based on data analysis.

  • Maintain regular communication with Operations Leadership on fleet needs, recommendations, industry trends or manufacturer delays that can impact long term plans of market growth, acquisitions or expansion.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Associate’s degree preferred but not required.

  • 3-5+ years of fleet management or fleet maintenance experience.

  • Current or previous experience managing a fleet of vehicles that span across multiple states.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.

  • Familiarity with financial reports and P&L statements.

  • Understanding of maintenance schedules and mechanical repairs estimates.

  • Advanced reporting and data analysis skills.

  • Ability to reduce costs and adhere to the budget given.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Independent problem solving and decision making skills.

  • Exceptional organization, time management and multitasking abilities with a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to travel as needed.
