Job Description:

No experience needed; all training is provided through our world-leading advanced plastic and auto repair training program.

Gerber Collision offers the most advanced 8 to 10 week PAID training program backed by in-house developed industry leading accredited courses. For approved applicants, Gerber will invest in your training to learn entry-level auto skills such as plastic repairs, repair planning, and removal & installation of parts to fast-track your certification as an entry-level Micro Repair Technician.

For any regional trainees, your training will be split between a 7 week site, hand-on and online training. You will spend 2 weeks initially at the local Gerber shop and then 1 week at the regional training center, with hotel and flights / travel paid for.

Based on your progress after 12 to 24 months as a Micro Tech, you will then have the opportunity to move into Gerber’s industry-leading TDP (Technician Development Program) with paid on-the-job training for another 12 months towards becoming a graduate - Auto Body Repair Technician, potentially earning $100,000 and over based on your performance.

No experience is required for the entry-level Micro Tech; all training is provided during the certification program, followed by ongoing “on-the-job training and upskill career progression programs.” During the training, you will be able to take part in various trade-based, personal, and basic business development short courses, providing a foundation for further development of your career.

About the Job:

Gerber Collision & Glass, is seeking employees who are interested in long-term

employment, job security, and the desire to work for a sustainable industry.

Candidates will be trained as a trainee, then certified as a entry level-technician, where they will

undertake ongoing training in various micro collision tasks listed below.

We are looking for people who are motivated, have an eye for detail, can work both

independently and within a team, follow the company repair methods, and have great communication skills.

Preferred Skill Sets:

Great communication skills.

Experience in car repair, plastic, or metal welding is a bonus.

Hands-on experience with cars, tools, or any kind of trade type role is welcome to

apply.

Micro Skills you will learn and be certified in 

  • Plastic welding and repairs

  • Vehicle disassembly and assembly

  • Repair Assessment & parts tagging

  • Spray primer and texture application

What you will do:

  • Physical Work: lifting plastic car parts and sanding parts

  • Taking parts off vehicles and tagging

  • Plastic welding using a fuse welding gun and plastic rods  

  • Use equipment such as sanders, air tools, hot air welders, and spray guns

  • Stand for long periods working on parts and cars

  • Use phone/tablet to enter job numbers and part images

  • Identify plastic and part imperfections via visual and hand inspection techniques

  • Ability to work independently and within a team

  • Work within a shop environment with some noise

Earning Capacity Stages: 3-Step Program

Step 1: Training Period ( 6 to 8 weeks )
Trainees have a base rate of $18 per hour ($37,440 annually) starting during the training period.

Step 2: Micro Tech Certified
After certification, Micro technicians move to an hourly base and commission structure equivalent to $20 to $22 per hour, which is $41,600 to $46,600 per year or more based on booked hours and bonuses. 

Step 3: TDP (Technician Development Program)
Micro Technicians move into the TDP and work 12 months toward becoming licensed Body Technician, earning between $60,000 and $130,000 per year after graduation. 


 

Work Hours: Monday to Friday - 8am to 5pm
