Job Description:

 Role Summary

The Production Manager’s primary responsibility and accountability includes providing an exceptional and successful customer experience while leading and managing the workflow through effective utilization of the workforce.  The Production Manager  ensures that the customers’ vehicles are repaired on time, exceeding Gerber Collision’s quality expectations and the customers’ needs. The Production Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of the customer’s experience by ensuring the quality in the repair facility is maintained and delivery target dates are achieved while working in alignment with  all team members in achieving the repair facilities KPIs. The Production Manager is committed to being a dedicated Brand Ambassador of Gerber Collision at all times.

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to General Manager

  •  Plan daily production schedule to maximize efficiency and maintain cycle

  • Run production meeting to communicate priorities to staff

  • Perform in-process quality control checks to ensure company standards

are met

  • Immediately identify and address any quality issues or production delays

  • Perform final quality inspection prior to delivery of the vehicle to customer

  • Other duties may be assigned

Key Education, Experience, and Skills


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Proven leadership experience in a collision repair environment or similar role

  • Ability to motivate others utilizing effective coaching tools and management skills

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to interpret work scope from vehicle estimates or work orders

  • Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle repair practices

  • Customer Service Oriented and strong organizational skills

  • Effectively manage a fast-paced environment, demonstrating multi-tasking ability while working under pressure

  • I-Car Registered (working towards Gold Class certification)

  • Frequently required to bend, crouch, reach, handle tools and lift in excess of 50lbs of materials

  • Valid Driver’s License


  • Conduct daily production meetings/walks to confirm through-put and delivery dates

  • Maintain efficient production through-put to maintain cycle time & touch time KPIs

  • Ensure the vehicle scheduling process is managed to ensure overall store performance

  • Communicate all customer requests and needs to appropriate team members

  • Provides positive energy when greeting customers in person and on the phone

  • Maintain quality of repair as per Gerber guidelines

  • Forecast, target and track monthly sales

  • Oversees the weekly and daily scheduling of work

  • Manage store capacity when load levelling is required

  • Monitor performance of parts, materials and sublet vendors

  • Communicate delivery targets to production staff and information flow to all team members

  • Communicate to customer service staff when vehicles are ready for delivery

  • Delegate repair orders by department and assign work orders to the appropriate technician(s)

  • Coordinates all supplements with the front office staff ensuring that the repair order is properly updated

  • Maintain delivery schedule and advise customer service staff of new delivery date  for follow up

  • Works closely with the parts coordinator to ensure parts are ordered and received in a timely

  • Maintain a clean and organized repair facility

  • Ensure proper allocation of paint and dry materials maintaining expense objectives

  • Ensure all staff wear proper safety gear and adhere to Gerber’s dress code

  • Manages preventative maintenance program for all equipment and tools including the paint booth

  • Coordinate training for all technical staff as required

  • Maintain a safe, productive work environment

  • Assist Manager with staff scheduling as required

  • Participate in employee evaluations as required

  • Recommend equipment needs to store manager and/or operations team member

  • Communicate and implement any requests from either Operations or Central Services to appropriate repair facility staff within the allotted time frame

  • Support all team members when required

  • Participate in monthly Health & Safety and staff meeting (if required)

  • Adhere to Gerber’s Policies and Procedures, according to established  business practices

  • Attend training, information sessions and workshops recommended by Store Manager

  • Maintain Gerber’s  KPI’s by maximizing role performance (Sales/ GP/ NP/ CSI/ AR/ CT&TT)

  • 0800 Morning Huddle - Role: Participant

    • Inputs: Yesterday’s performance, Today’s plan, and barrier logs

    • Outputs: Clear prioritized assignments for each member of the production team. Clear communication to the estimators as to which vehicles will be completed

  • 1:00 PM Production Meeting - Role: Participant

    • Inputs: Scheduled Completions and Vehicle Delivery Plan

    • Outputs: Assignments to estimators, parts management, and production management that deliver to the plan

  • Weekly Planning Meeting - Role: Participant

    • Inputs: Budget/Projections, Demand Capacity Plan, Opportunities, Staffing Plan

    • Outputs: Opportunity assignments by estimator and minimum earned hours assignment to production management
